Redfish

Non-stop bites all day long! Spring was in full swing as I took Sarah out for a 4-hour inshore fishing adventure with Coastal Creek Charters in Darien, GA. We set off early in the morning under clear skies, perfect conditions for a day on the water. The air was crisp, and the anticipation was high as we headed out to our favorite fishing spots. Coastal Creek Charters always aims to provide top-notch experiences, and this trip was shaping up to be no exception.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business, focusing on redfish as our primary target. We employed a variety of techniques to maximize our chances of success. Bottom fishing proved effective, allowing us to present our bait right where the redfish were hanging out. We also did some live bait fishing, which is always a solid choice for enticing these inshore predators. To mix things up, we tried casting with artificial lures, giving Sarah a chance to work different presentations and cover more water.

The redfish were cooperative, and we had consistent action throughout our time on the water. While we didn't land any monsters, the steady bite kept things interesting and fun. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having enjoyed a productive morning of fishing in the beautiful coastal waters of Georgia.

Great Barracuda

What a great day on the water, couldn't ask for more action! Summer fishing in Darien, GA is always a treat, and this morning's trip with Coastal Creek Charters didn't disappoint. William and their crew joined me for a 4-hour inshore adventure, setting out at the crack of dawn. The weather cooperated nicely, with partly cloudy skies keeping things comfortable as we cruised out from 1510 Blue N Hall Rd. There was a chance of storms later, but we had clear sailing for our outing. The tides were just right for some prime fishing spots I know around these parts. Coastal Creek Charters always aims to put our anglers on the fish, and today was no exception.

With our gear rigged and ready, we hit some of my favorite inshore honey holes. We mixed it up with a variety of techniques - bottom fishing, casting jigs, and live bait fishing. Each spot offered its own challenge, but that's what makes fishing in Georgia's coastal waters so exciting. The highlight of our trip came when we hooked into a feisty Great Barracuda. After a good fight, we brought it alongside - a nice 22-incher that gave William and their crew a real thrill. It's always a blast to see anglers tangle with these toothy predators. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, satisfied with our catch and the overall experience on the water.

From the time I was young, I dreamed of becoming the kind of fisherman who could take friends and family out on the water and give them a true coastal adventure. Over the years, that dream grew as I spent more and more time learning the rhythms of the tide, the habits of redfish, trout, and flounder, and the quiet lessons the water has to teach. What started as a personal goal—to be “good enough” to share the joy of fishing with the people I love—slowly became a calling. As my skills grew, so did my desire to share that joy with others. There’s something unforgettable about watching someone catch the fishing bug for the very first time—the excitement, the surprise, the pride. Guiding allows me to bring people into that world, to give them not just a trip on the water, but an experience that stays with them. That passion is what drives every outing with Coastal Creek Charters, whether we’re targeting redfish on the flats, chasing trout, or exploring the creeks and marshes of Darien, Georgia. Interestingly, guiding isn’t my full-time profession. I serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for McIntosh County. My career in public education has given me a deep love for teaching, and that naturally carries over to my time on the water. Just as I guide students through learning, I guide guests through the process of finding fish—teaching them techniques, encouraging them when it’s tough, and celebrating every success along the way. It’s a big reason families and first-time anglers enjoy our family-friendly fishing charters in Darien, GA. For me, guiding is about more than catching fish; it’s about connections. It’s about creating moments where people feel the pull of the line, the beauty of the coast, and the thrill of learning something new. That’s what inspires me, and that’s why I love what I do. To make those moments even better, I run trips aboard a 21-foot Century Bay boat powered by a 200HP Yamaha engine. Designed for up to four guests, it combines speed, comfort, and safety, with features like GPS, fish-finding electronics, a live well, and plenty of room to cast. Whether you’re after flounder in the flats or simply enjoying Georgia’s coastal scenery, the boat provides the perfect platform for a safe, memorable day on the water with Coastal Creek Charters.
